Hard drive recycling versus destruction
Some New York searches ask for hard drive recycling. Recycling is what happens to the material after the data is gone. Destruction is the data step. We do both: destroy or sanitize first, then recycle the residual electronics under the zero-landfill policy.

Count the drives if you can. Note whether they are still installed. Tell us if a witness needs to watch the crush. If serial tracking is required, say so before the appointment. Those details change staffing more than they change the destination of the scrap.
